Electronic submission of documents is a win all around. For candidates it's less expensive and faster, for writers of recommendation letters it's easier, and for the receivers of applications it's more convenient and more secure.

For these reasons, we've seen a clear recent trend towards central letter submission and application service in fields where confidential letters are required.

Many Interfolio users in the academic community are interested in expanding electronic submission opportunities. We're doing what we can to stay on top of the trends and accommodate those requests.

Thank you for posting our appeal and commenting on the value of approaching faculty members to support the next generation. The reason we require a log-in is so that we can autofill the form, record your contribution in our database, and keep track of member giving. I'm sorry it requires an extra step, but I do thank everyone who takes the trouble to give what they can to help graduate students.
