Andrew,

Sure will do in the future. But as a brief answer this is the toughest one to get away from. You can try felxisheet (search at Macupdate or versiontracker). But depending on what you want it for there might be better options than a spreadsheet. For example I am considering using OmniOutliner to handle grades. You can also try google spreadsheets, I have used it a couple of times with success, but I wouldn't want to put grades up on the web even if it is labeled as private.

Hi,
I wonder if you can do a review of stand alone spreadsheet programs for the Mac? I am one of those odd people who just do not like anything to do with Microsoft and would like to get away from the dreaded Excel! I would rather avoid integrated packages such as NeoOffice and the like if at all possible.

Thanks

Hmm... you ramble on about word processors, features and the like, yet you're unable to spell correctly? Bambo

Wondering what that largest size document is that you've used in Mellel... I'm looking for an ideal platform for what promises to be a horribly bloated PhD dissertation and I'm concerned about the program's ability to handle it.

Just a correction: OpenOffice is not just available for Mac & Windows, but also most UNIX derivatives including Linux. The same goes for AbiWord which can run on most other UNIX derivatives. Both are very handy when working on a large variety of systems.
