Back from my vacation, and looking to catch up on many things, the largest of which is the Blog Project. But while I work on that there are some things of interest that happened last week in the world of software for education. Here is a rundown:
- Mellel got an update. This update is free to all recent (last three years) purchasers of Mellel. This version is a major upgrade as it adds in a better search and replace function, a new full screen mode (I like this feature for writing when I get distracted), and most importantly a new document format which will hopefully lead to Mellel docs being readable by Devon.(Mac Only)
- Neo Office Aqua is now available. This is a significant upgrade for those using this free office suite. Not only does it look nicer, but it also seems to run faster on my computer.(Mac Only)
- Google for Education is now available. A series of online apps focused on education, these can be used by educational institutions to have a set of features for students, like email and calendar. (Mac or PC)
- Easy Grade Pro has also been updated. This is one of, if not the, best grading programs out there. Personally I like using my own spreadsheet, but if you want ease of use, and paying for a grading program doesn’t bother you, this is probably the best choice. (PC or Mac).
