For those who are into social bookmarking I just updated a bunch of items to del.icio.us. So if you are looking to surf the web check out my del.icio.us account. If you are not into social bookmarking or have no idea what I am talking about, click here and get started, as it is a great pedagogical tool.

I have a fairly long list of online readings I want my students to do this semester (various sites, blogs, etc.). Should I create a separate delicious acct. (other than my personal/academic one) for the students to easily access the URLs? and then put that in the sidebar of the class blog. or am i better off just posting readings in a blog entry as they come up. it’s too confusing to have them access my current delicious acct. and try to find the correct readings there.
You could create a separate tag for your class call it English226 or whatever, that way all the ones from that class would be easily groupable.
okay. good idea.
There is a variant of del.icio.us created specifically for handling bibliography: CiteULike. When you hit the post bookmarklet (analogous to del.icio.us’) on a journal webpage containing the abstract of an article, CiteULike scrapes the page and fills in all bibliographical details for you, so the burden of maintaining a good bibliography database becomes literally negligible. There is an excellent tutorial; it is written for anthropologists, but it is just as useful for other fields (I am a mathematician).
I found this blog via Tim Gaden’s Hawk Wings. Thanks for a really useful resource!
